Patrol

The Patrol Division is the backbone and most visible organizational unit within the Department, and provides the bulk of policing services to the public. The Patrol Division provides a staff of highly trained and qualified officers that work 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year.

The primary mission of the Patrol Division is emergency response, crime prevention, preliminary investigations, proactive patrol and traffic enforcement. The Patrol Bureau is the primary response unit to every emergency call within the borough, from fire alarms, fires, medical calls, power outages, etc., they are dispatched and respond first prior to any other emergency or non-emergency service called.

Officers in the patrol division utilize marked or unmarked patrol vehicles, bicycles, and foot patrol to interact with the public. They can be seen in the center of town during busy periods of the day, and patrolling the residential neighborhoods as well as throughout the day and night.

Patrol Officers handle many additional duties such as Megan’s Law offender registrations, and firearms background checks.

The Patrol Division is comprised of two Sergeants, twelve Patrol Officers, and supplemental Class II Special Law Enforcement Officers.
